Where I sew

My sewing area is also my laundry area, but there are more cupboards and drawers in this room than anyone would know what to do with.
I did this a a few years ago. I love to paint everything black for the background and then accent with color.
Very old mending floss, straight pins, thimbles, and shoe lacer/bone handle
Here is where all the sewing and serging happens.

From Kimberly Laws

Some more beautiful tags have arrived from
my extra Alice tag swap. Kimberly laws of
www.artjoystuff.blogspot.com sent me all
this wonderful stuff. I love how she
wrapped it up in an old sewing instruction sheet.
Very schiek (okay I don't know how to spell that
last word) and creative if you ask me.

I love the way she stamped this image on a large button.
this wonderful vintage trim all wrapped up
on a cute tag really gets me going!

Thanks so much and
I am sorry I am just getting around to posting this.
my Daughter is having her first baby
soon and is keeping me hopping.

Such a talented lady
she made this darling charm too. I Love It!

swappin with A year of Enchantment.

I just completed a swap assignment for
Yarni gras or a "Year of Enchantment"
and the theme for May was Mermaids.
The rules are that the main ornament is
handmade. This is what I came up with.
Then I made some earrings fit for
a mermaid and put them on a look-a-like tag.
And a tiny little salt and pepper shacker on it's
tray.
I also added a tiny teacup from occupied
Japan, a set of three hand embroidered old
doilies, and a tag with some special lace wrapped around it.
I will look forward to getting my Mermaid package.
I love this swapping thing, it gives one something to look
forward to from the mail. And you get to meet new friends
with the same interests as yourself. Woo Hoo!

Baby Gift

I needed a baby gift for a dear friend's
new grandbaby girl. She will be a first time
grandma. I had this cut out and on my sewing
machine for some time. When you are under
the gun to get something done, then that is
when you get it done, and not before, or that
is usually the case. I am needing so many gifts
lately, and most of the time I try to make them,
because I think it is special, but sometimes it
just isn't possible.
this one is a size 3 months or so. Baby Taylor will
be born in June.

My Mother

Yes, this is a beautiful Vintage bridal photo of my own Mother Jacquelyne Ford MacCabe. Since it was Mother's day, I just had to post it on Something Special, because she was indeed someone very special. Born in 1933 and passed away in 2005. This photo would have been taken around 1960 We all miss her very much. I love you Mom!

New Alice Tags

I recently requested more tags for my Alice Tag book. (Originally came from the Alice tag book swap karla'scottage.typepad.com) I just thought my tag book needed more Alice in Wonderland themed tags. And this is what I got from Ruth at  throughmygardensgate.blogspot.com     I was absolutely spoiled here. I asked for two different Alice tags. I not only received two very beautifully done tags, but also this most lovely package. Reminded me of "Brown paper packages tied up with string,"  These are definitely some of my favorite things.
She made a beautiful large pocket and inside had the tags, this darling little notebook, a bunch of antique buttons some other embellishments wrapped up in a paper doily.  Scrumptious indeed!
These tags are amazing. She is so talented. I couldn't love them more. Thank you so much Ruth.
And these lovely old buttons. I have been receiving many antique buttons lately. I just can't believe all the work Ruth put into this package.  I am so lucky

Wonderfully Shabby

One persons trash is anothers treasure!

I bought two of these at a garage sale last year and they have been in my garage since then
waiting to be refinished or painted. I have been working on my creative space the last week and had needed to fill a spot in my room, with something like this. When I went to my garage to start the project of painting one of them, I got to looking at it, and I really liked what I saw in it. So I just cleaned it up and some more of the paint came off. I got out of a painting job, and found that the shabby look is the easy look. I LOVE IT!

This lovely China doll was made by my Mother. It was a gift for her mother, because when Grandma Ford was a girl she had a doll like this but it got broken. My mom decided that even though she was elderly, she might still like to have it. My Grandmother was thrilled, and when she passed away, it went back to my Mom, and then my Mother passed away a few years ago, then it came to me. I have had it put away, but since my room needed some sprucing up I got her out. She is perfect sitting on my French Provencial Very Shabby night stand, don't you think?

Very Happy!

I wanted to do a vintage petite basket swap with someone, so I asked Laurie Jackson
from Indulge Your Shelf http.indulgeyourshelf.blogspot.com if she was interested, after she left a comment for a post.   I think
I got completely spoiled. I was so excited when the mail arrived, on Monday, because I found inside the box, this lovely vintage tin, filled with all these wonderful little goodies.  Thanks so much Laurie, you are super!  I couldn't be happier with any other treasures.  I am left wondering if I had sent her enough stuff. Anyway it was sure fun fun fun! Love to Laurie!
