Yesterday afternoon, I found myself feeling very nostalgic. I was thinking about myself as a child and I was also thinking about my wonderful mother. I found some things that were very special to her, and special to me because I remember her either wearing them or using them and I remember that she would always let me look in her jewelry box, and I would carefully go through each piece and wish I was grown up. Some of the pieces were very nice and some were costume jewelry, but which ever, I would spend hours in her lovely box.
Earrings that were hers from long ago, which I still wear today.
This zippered jewelry pouch was one she gave to me after using it for many years. The set below is beautiful costume jewelry in perfect condition, only the earrings were clip-ons, so I changed them to pierced, so that I can wear them now. I always use the jewelry pouch when I travel, even in it's very tattered state.
Lots of bling here!
Myself at age 6 and when I turned 7, my Aunt Joyce made this ceramic heart for me to wear. I am amazed that I still have this!

You are so lucky to have these beautiful pieces from your mother. Thank you for sharing your memories of treasure hunting in her jewelry box.

Your post made me a little teary-eyed. This was so wonderful and your photos are just beautiful. I still have some pieces of jewelry that I was given as a child and will pass on to my little girl. I also have some pieces that belonged to my husband who passed away six years ago. I will give them to our boys as they get older. I think it's something very special to pass things along. :)

what a sweet post ... i love the pictures, and i think you look like your beautiful mother
Ditto what Betsy said! I remember when I would go to my Aunt Nena's house and I would see several jewelry boxes sitting on her vanity dresser along with gloves and hats, lots of hats!!!
The jewelry pieces that I had that were my mother's sadly were stolen when my house was burglarized several years ago and the knot ring my dad had given me when I was about 9 years old. I can see them clear as day though!

Grandma Jackie is so pretty! I always loved looking at your jewelry too. I guess some of it was hers. Miss you Mom!
Wow, how precious! I hope you don't mind, but I saved your mothers photo......she's stunning, as I collect vintage images of everything. Her face is so sweet, as is yours, but you're from my time and I don't want to admit we're vintage ;o)
Have a great week,
Hugs,
Meri
Love the bling! What good memories you have and such a nice piece your mom gave you. Wasn't it special too to have something with your name on it when you were young? I remember how hard it was to find something when I was young that spelled Michele with one "l"--no doubt you had the same problem! These days it is so much easier. ; )
