New cards I have made this past week!

This one can be to celebrate a new baby or even for spring or Easter.   Love the soft colors.

This one is for a special friend.  I used Graphics 45 paper, and Tim Holtz hardware, old lace and
other embellishments from K & Co.  no wait I was wrong about the K & Co.  It was Prima!

I made this one for a sweet granddaughter who has a birthday coming up.  Love this retro graphic.

This one is for another friend.  Isn't it wonderful to get a card just letting someone know you are thinking of them?

A celebration card.  This graphic came from Graphics Fairy.
I had lots of fun creating these cards., and it took my mind off of the cracked ribs and banged up hand!  thank goodness I can still type on the computer! lol

Shabby pillows for my living room.

Last week I had a little accident.  I have not been able to do a whole lot, since I had a hairline fracture in my hand and some cracked ribs.  I have been laying low, but able to craft some and do a little bit of sewing.  I am not in any pain if I am sitting at my sewing machine for short intervals.  Or I can stand at my work space and make cards.  Here are the projects I completed.  I made some new pillows for my living room.  I am slowly trying to change it up to a more French Shabby look, without buying new furniture.

More ideas from the Parade of homes

I thought I would share some other ideas from the St. George Parade of homes.  The latest and greatest ideas in decorating!  You are welcome to pin any of these ideas.

Wish I could make something look this distressed.  I love it!
thought this was very interesting and I think it would be do-able in recreating!
Yes, those are canning jars that were made into this lovely chandelier over the dining room table.  And the ceiling is lined with old barn wood pieces.
Love this vinyl on the ceiling!
Just plain old lightbulbs and what a rustic/contemporary look this is.
A good chalk paint could give this look!
This definitely gives me a great idea for my dining room table.
This was in the most beautiful contemporary home I had ever seen.  Real twigs put behind glass with rope lights for the backsplash in the kitchen.  Loved it!

Starting an new collection

I love starting new collections after I am be lucky enough to get something really great that I in love and then finding more of them to go with that first one.  I have had a bunny figurine collection, a transferware and toile ware collections, a teapot collection, a teacup and saucer collection, a vintage salt and sugar collections, and many for Christmas time, and lots of old things, ephemera, postcards, buttons etc.

My new love is with antique baby clothes and shoes.  Here are the sweet shoes I have now and to display them, I had to stuff them with tulle, so the weren't flattened out, and then I embellished them in different ways.  My daughter-in-law gave these to me for a Christmas gift.  She and I were together when we found these and she pretended to want them for herself.  I was really happy for her, but her plan all along was to save them for me for Christmas.

I am sure these little gems are from the early 1900's, and I love thinking about the sweet little baby who wore these.  I tried to clean one of them, and that was not a good idea, as the leather started to kind of disintegrate.  I quickly stopped, and decided that from now on I will use much caution when trying to clean any antiques of any kind.

These came from 1933 and were my mother's baby shoes.  I feel very lucky to have them.

These leather booties were so old that the ribbon was literally disintegrating, so I
put this other lace ribbon around to embellish them after they were stuffed with tulle.
Inside the leather is very pink, and very soft, but as you can see they are faded and dirty from time I am sure.

And last below there is one little crocheted bootie, that is pretty old but it's mate is gone. I thought it looked cute with the alphabet cross-stitch piece.

Beautiful Beds!

Two days ago, I went to a Parade of Homes in southern Utah with a friend.  We had so much fun and of course took lots of pictures.  I wanted to share in this post some of the beautiful beds I shot while roaming through some amazing and gorgeous homes.  Sit back and enjoy!
This one was in a 5000 square ft. Italianate
A most beautifully built and decorated contemporary home.  Here is one of the guest rooms.

Loved this old gate made into a headboard.  So So shabby/rustic!  Loved it.
Loved the colors in here!

I was so intrigued by these sparkly pillows and the effect they gave.
there were lots of 4-poster beds!

Love these pillows, need to copy some of these.  I especially love the ribbon flowers.
Loved this style.  And the whole experience has inspired me to come home and redo and change some things.  And the first quick change I did was add new pillows to my own king size bed.  So the remaining pictures are of our Master bedroom bed.  The bed might be slightly outdated, but I was tickled with the new pillows on the bed, and I still thought it looked beautiful!

I have touches of red in my room, so wanted to bring out the red on my bed!  I really could use a new bedspread, but this will have to do for now!  I will be posting more of what I saw at the beautiful Parade of homes.  I only was able to get  through half of the homes, so we visited 14 of the 28, and then we had to return to our own Nevada homes.  But the experience was wonderful and i came away with loads of ideas!
